I can make gloves now!

I wouldn't recommend it as a hobby, though. Certainly not for those who are short on time or patience, e.g. me, but I am making gloves anyway. C-kun and I need them for the plug suits that we're taking to Biloxi this weekend. Though you would think that in a town as famous for its strip joints as Houston, it would be fairly easy to find vinyl gloves in red and blue, that is in fact not the case. Ergo, I am now a part-time glover.

I have had two hours of sleep. My car is in the shop and needs to be realigned. Declarative and simple compound sentences are about the best I can muster right about now. This is okay, since I'm working on a somewhat James Thurber-esque short story while I wait for C-kun to come take me home so I can pass out for a while.

I'm really starting to wonder what it is about setting defined-span-of-time writing goals that makes my life go haywire. If we have another one of these novel dares, I may just back out. The Plan at the moment is to spend a goodly chunk of the weekend holed up Unca Harlan-style in some out-of-the-way corner of the con hotel, hunkered over C-kun's laptop and getting more typing than muttering done. Fingers crossed.

I got my first confirmed kill at airsoft this weekend. I have my very own Marui stock-model Steyr AUG now, and spent most of our third game holed up behind a bunch of barrels, trading fire with a guy on the other team who was dug in behind a clump of trees. Airsoft guns look great, but they have lousy penetrating power when a target's behind cover, and their accuracy is ... disappointing, shall we say, at range. Two magazines later, the guy got cocky and stuck his head out. BLAM! One salvo, right in the face. It's a silly thing to feel that satisfied about, but hell, I've been playing for a good four months now and it's good to know that I'm not *just* contributing to the destruction of the environment with all that waste plastic.

More later. I'm going home.
