Found poetry in the Brown Corpus manual
Jul. 26th, 2004 04:48 pmI had to look up the Brown tagset today, and found it here. I still had the page open while I was writing an email, and the compose window covered up the left half of the page, so that all I could see were the example words on the right-hand side of the page. It occurred to me that they read like a sort of Dadaist poetry:
quite, rather
half, all
both
many, several, next
a, the, no
and, or
one, two, 2, etc.
if, although
this, that
some, any
these, those
either
chief, top
biggest
can, should, will
home, today, west
first, 2nd
everybody, nothing
my, our
mine, ours
myself
ourselves
me, him, it, them
he, she, it, one
I, we, they, you
very, fairly
enough, indeed
here then, indoors
about, off, up
what, which
whose
whom, which, that
who, which, that
how
how, where, when
(Look, I didn't say it read like good poetry; I said it read like Dadaist poetry.)
