Four and a half years ago, I put everything I cared about in a Saturn and drove halfway across the country to start a new chapter in my life in Iowa.

Today, I have too much stuff to be able to do that, and this whole moving concept is driving me to shaking fits of frustration.

If anyone wants:
  • a queen-size pillow-top mattress and box spring
  • a black metal four-poster canopy bed frame, queen-sized, with canopy
  • a matching nightstand
  • a twin-sized daybed with cherry wood corner posts and black metal sides
  • a cushy blue recliner
  • a hat tree with a marble base
  • a couple of glass-topped metal end tables
  • a glass-topped wooden coffee table
  • a butcher-block table
  • a metal cabinet on wheels with a hole cut in the back so that it works as an entertainment centre
  • a couple of desks
  • a plastic deck table with four chairs and an umbrella
and you can figure out how to get them from Iowa City to wherever you are, you can have them.

At this point I'm ready to mail all my books to $sysadmin and do this the way I know how to.

I know I'm in that phase of moving out where the goal is to get rid of all the food in the house by eating it, but I'm still a little sad that I'm now out of olive oil and chili balsamic vinegar. Still, makes a great dipping sauce for day-old sourdough bread.

It's probably cheaper to buy new pasta than to mail what I already have, but still, there's the inconvenience of having to take the time to buy new containers.

In other news, I got all organised and added some tasks to the QBE tracker on PgFoundry. Watch that space if you want to see what's in store. $adviser has also been surprisingly easy to deal with lately; the EXCLUDING clause popped to mind in response to one of his questions, though it really should have been obvious from the very beginning. He's about to shoot me a copy of the paper draft he wrote up, and has been nigh-on apologetic since realising that I did in fact have some very useful (though very dense and full-of-math) material in the couple of sections I sent him a month-ish ago. Yay vindication.

Wind is howling tonight -- I can hear it outside the front door and in the wind chimes on the deck. I should make sure to get bubble wrap.

And, on that note, off to $local_all_night_diner with Black Ops Nick. Good night, LiveJournal.
