...sitting in the Apple Store in Palo Alto, when pjammer pops online. I pinged him to reconfirm our lunch plans for tomorrow, and we chatted for about ten minutes. Then I realised it was coming up 9 pm, and I'd probably get kicked out soon.

maradydd: ok, the apple store is closing
maradydd: back on from home
pjammer: Which apple store are you in?

At which point we both looked up.

And realised we were sitting next to each other.

I guess I pay even less attention to the rest of the world than I thought I did.

General announcement

As of April 12th, I will no longer be employed by my former employer, whose name I do not believe I have ever actually mentioned here.

Rest assured that all is well: this was not a decision made lightly, in anger, or even in disappointment. Big Exciting Things are afoot, and I am still on quite good terms with them what brung me, even if I'm not dancing with them anymore. It's been a good ride, but the Work is calling, and when even the people who were paying me to do their Work can hear it, you know it's time to go.

What this means is that for the immediate future, you can find me holed up in a bunker in northern San Jose, spewing C++, ranting at the cats, and mainlining coffee through an intravenous drip in my neck. I will probably also do some laundry. I might answer the phone more often. Then again, I might not.
