Underground gardens and Russians(?)

mycroftxxx, the coolest home and garden project ever. I have dreamed of doing something like this ever since I was about nine. My dream underground lair involved disused subway lines, steam tunnels and the like --
kythera, you know me better than you might have thought -- but Baldasare Forestiere, who dug his 10-acre labyrinth by himself with nothing but hand tools, inspires the hell out of me. I want to go see this soon, and will take pictures if I do.
Also, apropos of nothing, I've noticed that a surprising number of Russians -- well, at least people using the Cyrillic character set; for all I know they could be Bulgarians -- have friended me lately. I'm happy to have the company, of course, but I'm awfully curious why...
