Busy couple of days, and LJ has already eaten the post I started, so here is a compressed version of my last half-week.

Wednesday: Left Belgium, sadly with [livejournal.com profile] enochsmiles still in it. (As my cab pulled away, we waved and blew kisses until the car turned onto the ring. Yay for boys who are just as sappy as me.) Short flight to MUC, followed by OMGlong flight to SFO, okayish BART ride to Civic Center, absurdly long wait for MUNI, and conveniently-arriving-just-as-I-stepped-out-of-the-train-station bus home. Cuddled cats, chilled with [livejournal.com profile] lokimon, went to bed late.

Thursday: Woke up early, went back to sleep, eventually went over to G.'s for a day of coding. Considered going to the Wet Spots concert, but didn't. [livejournal.com profile] foxgrrl came over and we went to Sparky's for food. She drove me home, and we kicked around ideas related to a security project she's doing.

Friday: Woke up early, stayed that way this time. Stayed home, worked, cleaned house a bit. The evening plan was originally for G., [livejournal.com profile] foxgrrl and me to hit the Jonathan Coulton concert, but G. bowed out due to injuring himself working out. [livejournal.com profile] foxgrrl called around looking for someone to take ticket #3, but came up empty, so she picked me up at home and we headed down to the Great American Music Hall. At the will-call window, we found a kid trying to get the box office to sell him one last ticket to the sold-out show, so I offered to sell him our spare, at cost. Yay synchronicity! There was a little confusion with actually getting the tickets, since I had bought them on [livejournal.com profile] enochsmiles' credit card, but after playing twenty-questions with the manager, I demonstrated sufficient knowledge of our contact info that they handed the tickets over.

Concert was doubleplusamazing. [livejournal.com profile] chanson was there, along with some of his friends (one of whom was dressed up like Bob the zombie from "Re: Your Brains") and his girlfriend M., who is smart and polymathic and tiny and adorable. I wanted to put her in my jacket and sneak out with her, but settled for a promise to hang out more in the future. The opening band was an act called Paul and Storm, who are IMO even better than the Arrogant Worms, though I think they're also better in concert than they are recorded. JoCo played my two favourite songs ("Mandelbrot Set" and "Shop Vac"), and did "Still Alive" twice -- once on acoustic guitar, and the second time with a bunch of SF semi-celebs and a Rock Band setup. Hilarity ensued; they failed the song at 99% complete. D'oh. It will probably end up on the concert video, to boot (Paramount was filming for a DVD).

Sadly, he didn't have a CD with "Mandelbrot Set" on it, so I got the Thing a Week boxed set instead. He autographed it and gave me a hug, and even remembered the brief email exchange we'd had over a year ago about a song about the half-grizzly, half-polar bear that was discovered up in the Arctic. He's such a sweet guy, and really good on stage too. I'm so glad I made it.

After the show, [livejournal.com profile] foxgrrl and I decided we didn't want Sparky's again, so we went over to my place to find out what else was serving at 1 am. Thai food was located, at which point I discovered that I was too tired and drunk to be vertical, so bless her heart, she went out and picked up curry and something with noodles in it. Eating commenced, followed by lots and lots of sleeping.

Saturday: Woke up around 1, groggy and headachey, and remembered that [livejournal.com profile] thewronghands was in town and we were supposed to go have tea with her at 2. Managed to get myself showered and dressed, and by just about 2 we were on our way to the Castro. Tea was had, with [livejournal.com profile] digitalsidhe, [livejournal.com profile] lwood, [livejournal.com profile] perligata, and another quiet but very nice girl whose name and LJ I now forget, because I am lame like that. Moroccan-style tea and dolmas went a long way toward repairing my hangover (two beers equals a hangover for me now? Shoot me and get it over with, I have become a lightweight), so after tea, [livejournal.com profile] perligata, [livejournal.com profile] thewronghands, [livejournal.com profile] foxgrrl and I repaired to the Asian Art Museum for the, uh, half-hour before it closed. [livejournal.com profile] perligata wandered off after that, the rest of us went shopping and had dinner, then finally took [livejournal.com profile] thewronghands back to her car and headed home again. Felt tired and achy, slept early.

Sunday: Going to bed early turned out to be a great idea; woke up refreshed and not sore. Yay! Faffed around online for a while, chatting with [livejournal.com profile] enochsmiles, and then [livejournal.com profile] foxgrrl and I walked to the grocery store to restock the fridge. I think tonight's dinner will be chicken thighs wrapped in bacon, perhaps with Guinness-spiked cheddar cheese. I cleaned out the bathtub (which now no longer has a tub full of dirt in it, and soon will be usable as a proper bathtub once more), she headed back to South Bay, and now I'm home noodling around and getting various sorts of work done. Laundry should be on that list at some point.

And that's all the news that's fit to print.

Today's grocery shopping netted me a new dark-roast coffee, dubbed "Fogbreaker". Given the weather we've had the last couple of days (fog and rain and OMGwind! today), it seemed especially appropriate.

Hey, Usual Suspects, sing it with me! "Fog-LIF-terrrr...."
