First lines

Ganked from, uh, just about everyone, the first line of the first post of each month this past year. (If the first post was locked, I'm including the first sentence anyway, because I am a tease like that.)

January: Despite all the stress and hassle that was 2004, a number of things happened in the last couple of days which push it firmly onto the "good year" side of the scale for me: I reconciled with John, I had a wonderfully relaxing trip home and got lots of good code written, and MacGyver is finally coming out on DVD.

February: You know you work too much when you have to schedule sex a day in advance.

March: /me dances the dance of being curled up on the couch waiting for the new iPod Shuffle to arrive instead of being at work.

April: My least exciting business trip of the year so far brings me to Des Moines.

May: Check out the back view of this jacket.

June: Earlier today, I was browsing through the silly programming languages here (think INTERCAL or Brainfuck, only with a weirder sense of humour), and noticed a reference to the Esoteric Language Contest.

July: Actually, I've been back since the 7th, but I've been travelling with my folks (who, somewhat to my surprise, actually showed up for my commissioning; Dad and [livejournal.com profile] turgon76 pinned on my bars, and Mom took pictures) and am heading back to Houston later today.

August: Starring [livejournal.com profile] maradydd as Our Heroine

Also starring [livejournal.com profile] yoctohedron as The Fellow Traveller

With [livejournal.com profile] cipherpunk as The Co-Presenter

Featuring cameos by, um, something like half of LJ

September: "Any sufficiently complicated C or Fortran program contains an ad-hoc, informally-specified, bug-ridden, slow implementation of half of Common Lisp."

October: Got an email today from Google's staffing department; they want a phone interview the week of the 10th.

November: Finally caught back up with $bay_area_security_firm dude today, and played phone/email tag whilst en route home from Toronto; net result, they're flying me out to San Jose for an on-site on the 21st.

December: Reposted from [livejournal.com profile] sclerotic_rings: behold the glory that is Cephalopodmas.
