Still more reasons why my job 0wns

I'm here at the office late tonight, working on a press release about the talk I gave two weeks ago and the fact that we've decided to open the SciTools source coinciding with the BOSC 2005 open-source bioinformatics conference. (Packaging a release for the first time, especially for a codebase this disparate and weird, takes a lot of work and organisation.) Once that's finished, I'm supposed to write up a for-internal-distribution description of the conference itself, telling the people in my department and the rest of IS about what went on, what cool things I learned, &c.

My boss has requested that I write this up in the style of Hunter S. Thompson. How cool is that?!

Yes. Yes, you do, and I am completely fucking baffled as to why there has been nothing open in production for the last two months. I mentioned this to my boss last night as well, and he thinks it's kind of odd too.

I promise, the instant I see something open, your resume goes on the stack and I'll drop you a line to let you know.

Don't worry about it: I understand completely, and I'm not giving you any grief. The thought, though, of writing everything in a Thompson style...at least he didn't ask for it in classic William Burroughs.
