panic and moving

Four and a half years ago, I put everything I cared about in a Saturn and drove halfway across the country to start a new chapter in my life in Iowa.

Today, I have too much stuff to be able to do that, and this whole moving concept is driving me to shaking fits of frustration.

If anyone wants:
  • a queen-size pillow-top mattress and box spring
  • a black metal four-poster canopy bed frame, queen-sized, with canopy
  • a matching nightstand
  • a twin-sized daybed with cherry wood corner posts and black metal sides
  • a cushy blue recliner
  • a hat tree with a marble base
  • a couple of glass-topped metal end tables
  • a glass-topped wooden coffee table
  • a butcher-block table
  • a metal cabinet on wheels with a hole cut in the back so that it works as an entertainment centre
  • a couple of desks
  • a plastic deck table with four chairs and an umbrella
and you can figure out how to get them from Iowa City to wherever you are, you can have them.

At this point I'm ready to mail all my books to $sysadmin and do this the way I know how to.

Hrm...Iowa doesn't seem that far away from hell...er...Indianapolis...

Unfortunately, stashing the kids somewhere for the requisite time needed to get to Iowa and return is the kicker.

Having seen that bed frame, I'm deeply tempted.

How long is it until you move, and are there any floors me and my fiance could crash on for a night, were we to take our cargo van and head south?

Loard help us all with the moving. I seem to remember a couple of cross-country Saturn trips packed to the gills. I feel your pain though. When I moved from Houstojn to Atlanta I dumped most of the stuff stuff on D. I think we left anything too heavy to mess with lying forlornly on the side of the parking lot. Oh well. Seriously, consider a packing co. I know you're famillar with the army movers. This works pretty much the same and is not that expensive considering the value of the time you would have spent messing with packing and loading, not to mention the risk fo serious bodily injury. Those strapping tape dispensers are vicious little buggers.

Ooh, I'd love that hat tree. And getting it from Iowa City to... Iowa City wouldn't be hard. : )

Yard sale! Make everything a nickel. :)

weren't there initial plans to hire movers? is that the frustrating part?

Hey, if you have anything left you want to get rid of that will fit into my Civic when I come down to IC to visit next weekend, I might just take it off your hands.

..however, I am intending to probably move across country soon too, so then I'll just have to get rid if it ;)

*sighs* See, if we were closer in distance, I'd /love/ to pick up a good lot of that stuff...

Darn it.
