I just bought two rolls of sportweight cotton in what can only be described as "printed circuit board green".

It cost me less than 5EUR, so I'm not that bad. But I'm still giggling.

Switch placement worked well (and comfortably!) on the test glove, a winter glove that I'm not using right now. Next step is to get some junk wire and lay out the traces, as it were.

Well, I don't think I'm going to get much further craft-time in tonight, because I have a lot of work backed up, and I spent some time just now finishing off the sling bag for my EeePC. But I was brainstorming about next steps for the knitted circuit layout while I did it; I think it'll have a ground bus running around the bottom of the cuff, and a hot bus running around the outside top of the cuff, with traces running down the back of the hand for the switches. I may need to break them to add pull-up resistors if I can't redesign the circuit to still use the resistor network, but that's okay.

I also emailed a magnet wire distributor (in China) about the possibility of obtaining 8 different colours of magnet wire, to use with a conductive-yarn-making Instructable I found. Inbox comedy may ensue.

Oh, carts, horses, you know. Actually knitting the production version of this up is waaaaay down the line -- there's a lot of prototyping that needs to be done first, and for all I know we won't actually knit it in sportweight. :-/ Also it is a perfectly hideous shade of green, straight out of a 1970s-era motherboard; I do not own anything else that colour and don't think I would ever do so if not for a really, really good joke.

But if I can find copper-coloured conductive yarn/thread, it will so be worth it. (/me also found an Instructable on how to roll your own conductive yarn with $yarn-of-your-choice and magnet wire, which I might end up doing.)

Two rolls?

It would probably not be wholly appropriate to mention seborn's and my inability to find any pictures of hot women wearing heatsinks when I posted this a while back: http://allonymist.livejournal.com/8525.html .

Time for us to go look again, I guess.
