It is retardedly hot and humid in the late afternoon/early evening here. I have given up entirely on the notion of pants, and still cannot bring myself to do much of anything except drink water and read. Every window is open, my neighbours probably think I'm a pervert (we have big windows), and still all I can do here is lie here and sweat.

Pics later (of the chording glove, not my pantsless self, get your minds out of the gutter), I promise, but for the moment I'm going to try to keep from melting if that's okay with y'all.

I need to find some milk crates, a hose and a couple of half-amp motors; this is giving me ideas for a stackable modular swamp cooler.

Why do Europeans refuse to get air conditioners? This seems endemic to the continent. It was only a couple of years ago that ten thousand people died in France during a freak heat wave. I mean, people in the US die in heat waves, but not thousands of people.

Seriously. It's not as if Europe has historically never had heat waves. It cracks 80F on a regular basis during the summer. The southern penninsulae are well-known for their heat. So why the lack of air conditioners? Europeans seem morally opposed to them.

They are in a futile quest to slow the increase in entropy in the universe. This is the dirty secret behind the "green" movement.

I expect that Meredith will soon have her glove operational to submit her first minority report on the matter.

Newer buildings here typically have them; this apartment was built in the 1960s, so no love. I have no idea what the deal is, but when I build my own house, it is going to have central air.
