Real update coming Sometime Soon I Mean It Dammit, but for now:

After a marathon all-night drive through the desert (no, really, from 4pm to 11am) starting from Vegas, [livejournal.com profile] enochsmiles and I are safely in my new apartment in San Jose. I have no furniture yet, so [livejournal.com profile] enochsmiles is presently curled up on the floor of my living room, on top of some clean laundry and underneath a towel and a trenchcoat (because I am a smart hitchhiker, and always know where my towel is). I've had a nap, so I think I'll live until it's actually bed^H^H^Hpile-of-stuff-on-floortime. $sysadmin is on his way over so that we can move my books and get dinner, I'm starting work a day earlier than I thought, and once my head adjusts to the wacky cost of living increase out here, life is going to be pretty damn good.

Glad you made it, and best of luck in your new home! Do you have Internet but no furniture? [grin] Or are you at a coffee shop?

If that were so, it means she has her priorities straight.

Near as I can tell, the open AP belongs to my next-door neighbour. I get pretty decent signal in my living room, so I don't feel particularly compelled to hurry to get DSL set up. Yes, I am a bad person.

Glad you made it safely! Congratulations on the move.

Glad you made it and you still have your towel

Sorry missed you at Christmas. Glad you made it to the new home ok. Better you than me....If I never have to drive through California again, it'll be too soon. Although, I understand the view in 'Frisco makes it worth it.

And yeah, like a true geek she's got her box and nothing to sit on.

Carry on, soldier. Huuahh.

Hey, there's always the floor. Or I could sit on my helmet, though that isn't very good for the motorcycle sort.

Welcome to California. You have my number. We must hang out when I get back from Cleveland.

Welcome to the SFBA; I look forward to hearing your experience with Fry's.

*grin* As a Houston expat, I already have some familiarity with Fry's, but having much more ready access to it will be a good -- and dangerous! -- thing.

Oh hey, welcome to the Bay Area! Let me know if you ever get bored and want to hit the local Half-Price Books or something. (I'm in Fremont, but I make regular visits to SJ for Japanese grocery runs and such.)

Yeah, we should get together sometime! I haven't located much in the way of ethnic grocery shopping yet (the Italian grocery store up in Sunnyvale that [livejournal.com profile] enochsmiles introduced me to being a notable exception), and would love a tour. [livejournal.com profile] yoctohedron might also be up for it, though he's in the city.

Do you have my phone number? If you want to drop me a line or an email before your next trip, that'd be great.

Sure! I don't have your number, though. My e-mail address is wintersweet at sbcglobal dot net if you want to send it along.
